Stars and Stripes taking on water

Hey guys I have a 1980 Stars and Stripes. I have had it for over 10 years and never really had any issues with water getting in the bilge. But the last couple years I have been taking on water. I let it sit overnight a few weeks ago and it had a lot of water in it the next day . Any ideas where to start? I have never replaced the rope packing.

Water coming in through the rudder through hull fitting possibly. O-ring or actual seal may be "gone" wore out. Is there a grease fitting on the housing? Water entering through worn exhaust?
