V Drive water coming out by the shaft in the hull

I ran my X45 on the fake lake for a little while on Saturday, when i shut it off i noticed i had water running under the boat coming from the hole where the shaft comes out. I looked in the inside and it was totally dry.

My question is, do they run water out by the shaft or have i got another problem? it was quite a large amount (maybe a couple gallons, it drained for about 5 minutes) like the engine/hoses draining when you come out the water or remove the fake lake.

fill me in, my first V drive major question.

I'm sure others will chime in, but I believe it is the dripless shaft packing draining.
    OH-IO!

Yes because its steals some cooling water to lubricate the prop shaft.

If you winterize by sucking up anti freeze via the bucket method, you'll want to pinch off that line to the dripless shaft seal. Otherwise, you'll lose a lot of AF before you see it come out the exhaust.
