2001 MDC and Speedo & Tachometer

After having Oil & Temp gauge problems on my 2001 X5 and having a new MDC I replaced the Oil pressure and the Temp gauges with independent Faria ones = great the problem of the gauges zeroing themselves whilst pulling a skier went away. However I'm looking now to sell the boat and there are two gauges not working properly The speedo ( never used as we always used perfect pass ) and just recently the Rev Counter has done the usual MDC trick of sticking at various places round the dial and not zeroing These need to be operational for a good sale . I thought of replacing the tacho with another faria independant tachometer then realised the Hours counter is in the centre so I'm looking at my options Try and fix it which i think means disconnecting any other gauges still connected to the MDC bus ( fuel & speedo ) and then follow the Medallion fault finding guide and then look for poor connections / poor earths Replace the tacho and just forget about the hours as at this age 2001= 18 years a buyer will buy mainly on condition, also the hours are sort of incorrect as a new short engine was fitted when I purchased the boat ( the dealer dropped something in the intake when doing the LPG conversion and holed a couple of pistons = major oops )
Any Tips or advice appreciated I'm here in the Now Rainy Wet & Cold UK
