The wife wants me to sell it to get something "newer". It is 20 years old. She says it's time for a new truck. I told her the only thing I would consider is a Trackhawk. However, when I told her it comes with a $100K price tag, she kind of backed off.

Instead, she now wants a whole new interior put in the Expedition. I can that!!!

I was looking to upgrade my wife suburban too, stumbled across a 2015 1500 with the 5.3 engine that ended up having the max tow package. I have a duramax but with the kids i wanted to use the suburban for towing mainly just for vacation. It tows out xstar really good (9,000lb combined trailer weight) max trailer package on suburban is 8500 so i was over a bit. Ill take my truck on the hills and mountains any day but all in all i was very impressed with the suburban.

I got spoiled after towing with a 3/4 ton in college, and as much as I complain sometimes about my 5.3L Tahoe and how much bouncier the ride is with the boat on the back, it really does a phenomenal job in tow mode. I'm rarely gear hunting.

I went ahead and bought it—2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD. Great tow vehicle, for this old lightweight MC anyway—and my wife likes it too, a real bonus!

I’ve been extremely impressed with the Discovery 5 towing the X23. It’s equipped with air suspension so it levels itself more than shown here with the key off. 8,500 lb max tow rating.

I know it's a large boat, but that X23 makes that Disco look small

With all due respect, why lift a tow vehicle to make it more unstable while towing almost 4000 lbs?

I hear ya. My GX460 has Michelin defenders with 60K on them and they still have 8/32 on them

I’ve towed with an 8-10” lift before. I didn’t feel unsafe or unstable at all. Just extra wind resistance and bigger tires.

I drove a lifted 4Runner for over 9 years and was towing a boat larger than a ProStar all over the place and never had a single issue.
