A couple of easy hits to change the impeller

1-open the cover and spray the rubber impeller with WD-40 (safe on rubber)
2-use two paint can openers to work the out of the housing.

should make it easier without buying a $55 puller...

I had difficulty (this year) getting my impeller pulled. The issue with the Ilmore 5000 is the engine mount is too close and made it impossible to use my puller. Decided to cut the puller short (and file it down). Worked awesome!

On my 2016 6.2L Ilmore I remove the serpentine belt and pull the impeller a little at a time with a paint can opener while spinning the wheel since the belt is removed and its so easy.

That's a great idea! And yes swapping an impeller on a 5.7L Ilmor in an X2 will definitely bring out the 4 letter words from anyone.

            quick trick

            - Spray with WD40
to remove impeller use 2 vise-grips - one small needle-nosed clamped tightly on impeller then the 2nd larger one clamped perpendicular on the small vise-grip in T. Then tap the big visegrip to free the impeller. Works like a charm, no room in my Maristar to use a puller either.

Agreed, after my 1st attempt I was ready to light my boat on fire. What a joke that job is for a full grown person. I'm 100% on board with pulling the pump now to replace. 2 bolts and 3 hose clamps. Out.
