MC Prostar 205 Throttle

I have a 97 Prostar 205 with the TBI and basic 1:1 transmission. Just got the boat this spring and noticed the throttle cable does not engage the TBI carb until you push the throttle lever past 45 degrees (before 45 degrees, the transmission is engaged and will move froward @ idle). Driving me nuts having to push the throttle so far to the floor. Can the throttle linkage be adjusted with a relatively simple DIY job or does it get tricky to adjust without messing up the transmission linkage?

Thanks in advance for any help or links to how-to videos.
