Do they still sell mostly seconds, refurbished, and b-stock? I bought a handful of gear from them about 15yrs ago, and although advertised as new, everything appeared to be refurbished. There were serial number tags on top of serial number tags, etc.

They are a registered and licensed JL (and many other band) dealer of new gear. I bought a pair of 880 tower speakers, a 600/6 and a M6 sub from them. The tower speakers and sub shipped directly from JL, the rest shipped from them. Everything was brand new and in the box will all the documentation.

Edit.. it has seen some salt. Haven’t researched how horrible that is for these boats,

You may have a plan but I don't see that 1000 hour, saltwater boat with a modified and rusted out trailer making you anything but a headache. Don't forget this is an inboard not a vDrive. Perfect ones with 500 - 600 hours can be had for $14K so that would be your target IF you can get yours looking really good. That's going to be a challenge for that boat. Let's do the quick math....

Base boat value of excellent condition boat with 1000 (if you can get someone to look at it with those hours) $12K - $13K.
Subtract $3K - $4K off because of overall condition and saltwater usage. We'll go on the low side and now you're at $10K
I'm willing to bet the other trailer is any better or that it will even fit the boat properly. Cost for new trailer $4K - $5K. We'll use $4K, now you're at $6K.
Add another $1K - $2K for misc repairs, gel coat work, supplies etc and now you're at $5K
Then you have to pick up, get it here and pay taxes, let's just all that another grand. Now you're at $4K.

So basically you'd have to get it for $4K, sell that 1000 hour saltwater inboard for $13K and pray the salt hasn't ruined the engine. Also, it may have a new interior but how good of an interior can it be if it's new and the asking price is 2/3's of what a new interior would cost? Sorry but there's just tons of red flags here and I don't like you're odds on this one. I'd recommend moving on and finding something else.

Speaking of which there was a 2000 Sport Nautique then was listed for $14K with under 600 hours last week out by MIS. It was gone the next week but if you're looking for a flip that was the deal you should be looking for.

Show-stopper. Look for another boat.

Good boats aren't cheap and cheap boats aren't good.

There are deals out there and boats you can buy, fix, use for a season or two and still show a profit but this isn't one of them. What's worked for me in the past was being really ready to do a deal and having cash when you show up. Mind you I'm no Diamond Jim so my flip boats target the $10K - $15K resale market so my purchase price for a flip boat is typically $8K - $10K.

I did this on the last 2 and it's amazing how telling someone that you'll take the boat right now and give them cash can move a boat price in your favor. Typically when boats get to this level there's a reason the boat is being sold. The last 2 were the same story and the best situation to hear. Kids were grown, lost interest and nobody was taking care of or using the boat. When I told them I'd take the boat away right then and there they actually looked relived and happy to adjust the price a bit more.

I never try to beat a seller down to the last penny but I do make sure I know what the true value of the target boat is, the risk involved and what I need to buy the boat for to make it worth my effort.

Special Edition 1990 Prostar with a very unique color scheme. I found out it was actually one of my friend's boats.. small world.
