I removed the pink stains on a boat that were popping up in various white areas for no reason by putting bleach GEL on a towel, and rubbing it onto the stains hard one very small area at a time, about the size of my fingertip. Let it stay for a while, rinse it off. It removed the stains and seemed to kill the bacteria that causes this. Boat is still around 10 years later, and haven't had recurrence.

Just thinking out loud here. Could the seats be put in a vacuum and the air sucked out and then the vacuum refilled in CO2 or pure Nitrogen or some other innert gas to kill the bacteria/fungus that is causing the pink colors. When I worked in medical devices I had access to giant ethylene oxide sterilizers. I know they could have wiped out the pesky little microbes.

Finally A Cure for Pinking

www.gestaltscientific.com now has a Home Solution for pinking. Its pretty affordable considering the alternative. $47.95 for a cartridge. The kit also comes with a test cartridge. If for some reason the solution dos not work on your specific vinyl, you get a full refund. Boating Magazine tested it and had very successful results.

wow, the pink in their pictures on the gestaltscientific site is way brighter/dense pink than I have, I consider myself lucky. Do others have that bright pink that they show the application removing?

I guess I’ve only seen “chemical” pinking - unfortunately this product won’t solve it.

How common a problem is this? Maybe I need to knock on wood, but I haven't had this with any of my boats.

Very. Almost any boat can have this issue but it is more common with salt water usage and warm, damp climates. That's not to say we don't have these same issues up north.

Yeah not at all the type of pinking I have - mine is more like an extremely light tint. I can actually get it to go away if the boats been in the sun for awhile. Also, I believe it helps to have low humidity under your cover - just started using the biggest damp-rid containers they make and haven’t seen that tint in awhile
