    2002 X-Star

I need some opinions on the value of a 2002 X-Star. 5.7 LTR Indmar, 800 hrs., perfect pass, wake tower, teak platform, single axle MC trailer. Exterior/Interior in good condition. What do you value it at based on what I've provided?

I'd say low 20s. Here's one for sale here with very low hours. It's high 20s and hasn't sold yet, but is low hours and excellent condition to potentially warrant more than an 800 hour boat in good condition.

The 800 hours is a little concerning. They're asking $23,500.

Engine should easily go to 2000 hours

Any reviews on business dealings with this company, or just rely on PayPal to be the buffer?

How is 800 hours concerning on a 18 yr old boat? That’s 44hrs a year.

I'm not saying that it's too many hours, just a higher probability of "stuff" going wrong. IF it's been well cared for, that shouldn't be a problem.

My 03 turned 820 hours this year. As long as it was maintained, then you will have no issue.

                  I sold my 2003 X-2 (same boat as 2002 X-star) with 860 hours for $25k in July

I would actually be more concerned about the 200 hour mark on this old of a boat. This means it like sat for multiple seasons without use. A boat, like a car, should be used regularly. Now if they used it for 10 hours a season with proper maintenance records, then that could be a better scenario. A good boat owner will love to tell you how they maintained their boat.

Ask for maintenance records or history. Get pictures of the boat. Test drive it.

Your buying a 17 year old boat so go into with the mindset that the engine could go out the day you bring it home. After owning a few old boats though I now realize that replacing upholstery is more costly than a new engine or transmission. This time of year I would beat him down in price and offer him 18 to 19. That boat is not going anywhere anytime soon if he is asking in the 20’s this time of year.

It's at a boat dealer so they'll probably hold on until they get their price. They're actually asking 26K!

At that price, I'd keep looking. It's way overpriced, especially this time of year. I think it's overpriced for spring pricing!
