Finally fixed mine, thanks to this thread, really nice now. It used to accelerate the boat when you hit a wave, like others have said. Only took a few minutes.

Used this info to adjust my 17 Prostar today. Easy to do. Thanks for the post!

I was just thinking about this Saturday when I noticed my speed kept creeping up while cruising with out cruise control set. Saved me the hassle of figuring it out. Thanks to the OP for posting it and thanks for reviving it Dacon62!

After adjusting the throttle, I'm having a hard time getting the neutral button back in place. It doesn't seems to push in as far as it should. Advice?

Great post on tightening up the throttle Brian! I just wanted to add that on a 2011 X-25 (and other models?) I had to remove the billet aluminum plate around the MasterCraft badge to gain access to (4) SS screws. The billet piece is just held on with double sided tape, so I just carefully pried it off. It would be nice to have some new double sided tape (i.e. thin carpet tape) to reattach it. The (10) small allan head screws around the perimeter are just decretive and don't need to be removed.

Thanks for the instructions. Took less than 10 minutes to get it apart, adjusted, and back together. Did it while anchored in a cove. 😊

Bringing this one up, i need to adjust my throttle but I cannot get the plate off (2 way tape?).

Heat it up? or any other tricks?

I did this on my 2007 and have the same issue on my 2020...it's to "loose" and if you're not holding the throttle lever, it will fall/accelerate when hitting a wave.

Has anyone attempted this adjustment on a newer boat?

I was able to get the plate off to adjust the tension, now I need to re-attach the plate.

What kind of tape did some use with success? I was looking at Gorilla Dots?
