Diagnostic issue

2015 X25, has anyone ever had a error code like this? I am posting this for a buddy that is having problems. He changed his oil Saturday and was looking through his screen and ran a diagnostic test on the system. He had said it sounds like a rattle is coming from the exhaust while running in a fake lake. He ran the boat Sunday in the lake and said it died several times before loading it back on the trailer. The misfire code is random cylinders every time itís flags. Any ideas?

GM with a rattlely noise in exhaust I start thinking valve clatter - valve spring failures, lifter falures and such.

I'd be popping that valve cover and feeling the rockers for looseness/inspecting the valve springs for failure.

Code means the ECU is detecting a misfire. Since the cylinder is jumping around, most likely an ignition issue in the common parts of the ignition systems that's not cylinder specific. May be able to be more specific if I knew which engine.

Ask your friend if the misfires are all on one bank (ie. are they cylinders 2,4,6,8? Or 1,3,5,7?)

If the misfires are limited to one bank, it could likely be a fuel injector relay. It was a common problem on those earlier Ilmor’s.

If it has been misfiring a while, the catalyst might be coming apart, which would be the exhaust rattle noise.....

The engine is the 5.7 llmor, the misfire has shown on cylinders 1&8.

Hello,

I have the same codes when I check with diacom on my 5.7 ilmor.
Since iam running LPG most of the time and I just get the issue on Petrol I ordered a new fuel injector after I changed injector from 1 to 3 and misfire also moved. When I switch from LPG to Petrol engine is shaking and service required is shown together with limp mode.

I will report back in 2 weeks after I receive the new injector

I'm not sure that would be audible from the exhaust, it should be heard directly through the valve cover(s) but there's really no reason this engine should make those sounds.

I agree with the last part, but I would do a compression test, first.
