sorry to go OT for a second, but why do the older x-stars seat 12 and the X1/X2 brothers with the same hull, yet newer, seat one less person?

Just speculating . . .

The newer boats had more bling, therefore heavier.
The newer boats had more ballast capacity.
MC knew that owners were ballasting way over the rated capacity so put a more conservative rating.

My 2 cents.

Wheelered is on the money.

The original versions had a dry weight around 3020lbs. The newer X1 weighed in at 3250.

Hence right around the weight of one "adult person" according to NMMA when using capacity. No way you get 10 people in there comfortably anyways.

1099 huh? I didn't realize MC was in business then.
That's about the time of the Norman conquest of England!
